Orthodontist: Dr Stephen Papas

Steve started Imagine Orthodontics in 2006, having previously worked as a dentist since 1996. He completed his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) in 2000 and in 2001 was accepted into the Master of Dental Science, MDSc, orthodontic program at UQ in 2001. This is the three year specialist training degree to become an orthodontist.

After graduation Steve worked with an orthodontic group practice in the Brisbane area in 2004-2005. He left this practice to start Imagine Orthodontics in 2006 with a view to providing the premiere orthodontic service in Brisbane.

Throughout his dental and orthodontic careers, Dr Stephen Papas has completed all requirements to be fully qualified and Imagine Orthodontics is the only orthodontic surgery that provides the full range of orthodontic treatments. It's also one of the few that actually provides consultations with the orthodontist only - at many other practices you only see the orthodontist for a short time and the rest is taken care of by other staff.

Dental Hygienist: Alison Wong

Dental Hygienists are university-trained health professionals who are registered with their state dental board. They complete a 3-year Bachelors degree focusing on the prevention of dental disease by patient instruction and oral hygiene maintenance, and they are also trained in limited dental treatment which is completed under supervision of the dentist or dental specialist. 

The role of a dental hygienist in an orthodontic practice includes giving instruction for hygiene and orthodontic appliances, taking orthodontic records, removing wires and ligatures, removing braces and adhesive, and fitting retainers. 

Alison comes to the practice with experience in all these areas from her work with orthodontists in the Children's Hospital.

Allison graduated with her Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Queensland in 2008 with several awards including awards from the Dental Hygienists Association of Queensland and the Dental and Oral Health Therapists Association of Queensland.

She also works for Queensland Health in the School Oral Health Service and the Children’s Oral Health Services at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Practice Manager: Margaret Clayton

Originally hailing from the land of kilts and whiskey some 30 years ago, I completed my dental nursing certificate in 1980, Diploma of practice management 2007 and Diploma in Training and Assessment 2009. Over the years I have seen many changes in the dental industry none more so in the world of orthodontics, who would have thought clear braces and braces which can’t be seen would be an option today. If you are considering orthodontic treatment for yourself, don’t let age put you off your never too old as I’m about to find out in a couple of weeks when Dr Papas fits my lower braces.

Being the new kid on the block (relatively speaking) with Imagine Orthodontics, as Practice Manager I am fortunate to work with an amazingly talented group, a supportive team where our goal is to be the best at what we do. Orthodontic Assistant: Fiona

I was born and reared in the fair city of Dublin, Ireland! I began my training as a dental nurse in 1998. I attended the Dublin dental school and hospital where after a 2 year course I obtained my qualification in dental nursing!

I've been working as a dental nurse for 13 Years and specifically in orthodontics for 7 years! I moved to Brisbane in May 2010 and have been working with imagine orthodontics since. Besides the extreme summer weather, both my husband and I love living here! Am a very keen reader and my mission in life is too see as much of the world as possible.

Orthodontic Assistant: Holly

I have always wanted to complete a certificate or qualification and working in orthodontics has allowed me to gain that qualification while still working. I now hold a Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting.

I have lived in Brisbane for six years now but originally come from a small country town eight hours west of here, called Bollon. As there is no high school in Bollon I attended Boarding school in Toowoomba which introduced me to living away from home.

I enjoy working in the orthodontic industry and getting to know a lot of our patients well through their treatment. I work with a fun group of people which makes coming to work enjoyable!
